US carrier confirms Samsung Galaxy S6, S6 edge, S6 edge+ and Note 5 will get Android Oreo

Samsung sold lots of Galaxy S6 and Note 5 flagships, as well as many of the former's variations like the S6 edge and S6 edge+. All those people who still use these phones are still waiting for the handset maker to announce whether or not it will release Android Oreo updates for any of them.

Until today, we only had rumors pointing to possible Oreo updates for the Galaxy S6 and its variations, but no these reports haven't been confirmed by Samsung. While we still don't know what's happening in Samsung's labs, there's a high chance that these Galaxy and Note models will eventually receive Android Oreo updates.

US carrier T-Mobile recently updated the support pages for Samsung Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 edge, Galaxy S6 edge+ and Note 5 with information about future software updates. Here is the message that suggests these devices might get the long-awaited update: “Phase complete – version 8.0 Oreo – T-Mobile and the device manufacturer have agreed to support a new software update.”

It's highly unlikely that Samsung will allow just one carrier to update these smartphones to Android Oreo and not provide the update to every other unit worldwide. Even if T-Mobile's information is correct, it will probably take some time until the carrier starts pushing the update to any of the smartphones mentioned.
