Over the course of the last few BBM beta releases, folks started noticing PayPal integration was no longer appearing as available. As with any beta, bugs happen, and for the most part, it got chalked up to it being just that, a bug. With the latest BBM now official, though, PayPal has begun emailing those who were using the integration to let them know that the ability to send money with PayPal using BBM has been discontinued as of February 6, 2018.

PayPal is always evolving our customer experiences to ensure we are delivering to you the best products and solutions. As a result of our research, we've decided to discontinue the ability to send money with PayPal using Blackberry Messenger (BBM), starting February 6, 2018. Thank you for using this service. There are still many ways to easily exchange money between friends and family with PayPal, including through the PayPal app on iOS and Android, mobile web, PayPal.me, Facebook Messenger, Skype and more. If you have any questions, please contact us by clicking Help & Contact at the bottom of any PayPal page. Thank you for being a valued member of our community, PayPal

Naturally, PayPal doesn't lay out what research data they used to make the decision, and I won't speculate on what it could have been, but it's safe to say it's a loss for those who used and enjoyed the integration within BBM. Personally, I never used it, as I always preferred just to use the PayPal app which PayPal notes, is currently available for Android and iOS users. BlackBerry 10 users can continue to use the PayPal site directly. Did you actively use the PayPal integration within BBM? Will you miss it or nah? Let us know in the comments.
